Friday October 24th, 11:00am to 12:30pm at the UACC conference in Toronto.
Title of session:  Advertising Theory: Intersection between Practice and Scholarship.
The panel will consist of : Adam Lauder, Jaleen Grove, Ann Urban and Sandy Kedey.
Location: The Chestnut room. 89 Chestnut Avenue, Toronto.

Carl Jones proposed.
Advertising Theory: There is little communication between advertising scholars and practitioners, and the objective of this panel will be strengthening the mutual understanding between these fields. Starting from a focus on Canadian advertising, this panel will provide a forum in which to compare, contrast and evaluate advertising theories in ways that advance both the practice and study of advertising. A key point will be to theorize how advertising differs from other forms of communication. Possible conceptual frameworks could include – without being limited to - semiotics, communication models, tools & techniques, and theories of post-moderism.

The panel will consist of academics and advertising practitioners.
